Grass-Fed Beef Spaghetti Sauce with Noodles 

Prep Time:  20-30 minutes (chopping veggies, browning beef, etc.)

Cook Time:  2-3.5 hours (simmering the sauce on medium heat on a stovetop)                          6-8 hours (in a crock pot on low)

Ingredients

  •  1 (28-oz.) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (28-oz.) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (28-oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (16-oz.) can tomato paste
  • 1 medium green pepper, diced
  • 1 small red pepper, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
  • 3 whole bay leaves
  • 8 fluid oz. wine (sweet, white, blush, etc.)— or substitute with 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 lb. grass-fed ground beef
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 16 oz. whole wheat or gluten-free spaghetti noodles

 Instructions 

  1. Prep Vegetables: Dice the green and red peppers and garlic. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a pan and sauté the peppers and garlic until tender. Set aside.
  2. Cook Beef: In the same pan, brown the grass-fed ground beef. Once browned, add the sautéed vegetables back into the pan. Reduce heat to a low simmer.
  3. Prepare the Sauce: In a large pot or crock pot, combine the crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste. Cook on medium heat.
  4. Add Wine & Spices: Pour in the wine (or substitute sugar), then stir in basil, oregano, Italian seasoning, bay leaves, sea salt, and pepper.
  5. Combine: Add the beef and vegetable mixture to the sauce. Stir until well blended.
  6. Simmer: Let the sauce simmer on medium for 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally. If using a crock pot, cook on low for 6-8 hours.
  7. Cook Noodles: Cook spaghetti noodles according to package instructions and drain.
  8. Serve: Spoon the sauce over the cooked spaghetti noodles. Garnish with fresh basil or Parmesan cheese if desired.
